Equipment
Multi-band radio, knock-off disc wheels.
Condition
#3 Good
Runs and drives well. Flaws not noticeable to passersby. Most common condition.
Sound repaint, good interior, scratched chrome. Engine compartment is unattractive and poorly finished. Generally disappointing and not reflecting the claimed 1998 restoration.
Market commentary
From the description (... body off restoration in 1998. The job was finished in 2000 ...) it sat a long time before getting the finishing touches, which is never a good sign. The transaction result indicates two things: 1) the bidders were not impressed; and 2) long wheelbase Lotus Elan +2s don't have much appeal in the collector market. Anyone prepared to put up with Lotus unreliability wants the maximum Lotus performance and handling. That's not included in the Elan +2 package. The seller wasn't hurt however. The car was bought for only US$11,200 at RMs Toronto auction a year prior.
