Equipment
5-liter Chevrolet V-8, quadruple Webers, Hewland 5-speed, Avon tires, wings.
Condition
#3 Good
Runs and drives well. Flaws not noticeable to passersby. Most common condition.
Unclear early history but vintage raced in the U.K. and Europe during the 1990s and 2000s. Damaged in 2010 but repaired. Essentially in race car condition. Very cool, probably terrifying.
Market commentary
Run from 1968-82, Formula 5000 was an open-wheel series for cars with a maximum displacement of 5 liters that offered near-F1 levels of speed but at a much lower cost. Lotus was neither very committed to nor particularly successful in F5000 relative to McLaren and Lola and this one's history isn't clear, but it's not pretending to be anything it's not. It would make a cool toy for historic racing, and is priced accordingly.
