Equipment
Theres something wrong here. The car card says just over 36,000 original miles but the odometer reads 53,630. 429 370hp Cobra Jet, 4 speed, high back buckets, styled wheels, Shaker hood, blackwall Polyglas GT tires, hood mounted tach, competition suspension, no P S or P B, buckets and console, hood pins. A very serious automobile documented with original sale papers, title and Marti Report. Superficially auction restored, however. Good paint, interior and chrome but ugly chassis repainted over old undercoat. Good but not like new underhood. Poor window sill chrome, scratched windshield and gutter trim, uneven door fit. An erratic car that suggests little care or attention.
Market commentary
No Reserve. Saturday Primetime. A better Mercury Cyclone Spoiler sold for $48,600 on Saturday. Same engine, 4 speed, and much more reliably presented. Which illustrates the difference between Fords and Mercurys (or Chevys and Pontiacs) in todays market. This car, even though its positively cheap compared with the prices people are paying for Boss 429s, is expensive both for what it is and for its superficial and disappointing presentation.
