Equipment
428 335hp, 4 speed, ladder bar rear suspension, roll bar, Torque Thrust wheels. No P S. Raced in period by Damone Venturi Racing (Vic Damone (Lee Iacoccas brother in law) and Ken Venturi) with 5,000 miles from new. Very clean and highly presentable. Comes with authenticating letter from Bill Stroppe. Seems all there and might have been raced on the way to the auction. Still plenty of tread on the tires. However the catalog says it has a date coded matching numbers 1969 428 Cobra Jet V8 engine and Cobra Jet four speed transmission which sounds a lot like the date codes are correct but the parts didnt come in this chassis. No Reserve.
Market commentary
When it was offered at Barrett Jackson in 1993 Ed Terry and Don Nicholson were mentioned in connection with it and the bidding stalled at $14,000 (as most bidding did in 1993). They seem to have receded into the background noise in 2006. More usable that the usual old drag car, this is a lot to pay for a 69 Mustang, but not a lot for an historic drag car.
