Equipment
426cid/650hp Hemi V-8, 4-speed with Hurst shifter, side exhaust, Goodyear tires, hood pins, roll cage.
Condition
Driven by NASCAR legend Bobby Allison, achieving 200 mph for four laps in April 1969. Was inspected and authenticated by Allison during restoration. Completely restored with few signs of use since. The paint and bodywork are exceptional and show little deterioration. The interior is excellent and shows no wear. A fantastically significant Daytona in incredible condition.
Market commentary
Monterey is typically road racing territory, with sports and Grand Prix cars typically filling the race car portion of the auction consignment lists. You know, foreign stuff. Nevertheless, this piece of NASCAR history didn't go unappreciated and joined the fairly small group of Mopar muscle cars to sell for over $1M at auction.
