Equipment
Chrome spoke Borranis, blackwall Michelin XWX 205 70VR14 tires, AM FM, P W. Restored like new over a decade ago with excellent paint (by Juniors House of Color), interior (by Tony Nancy) and chrome. Twice a Platinum Award winner, invited to Pebble Beach in 1998. The odometer apparently read approximately 60,000 miles when restored and it still does (60,989) which means attention to things that move, flex and seal will be appropriate before doing anything more demanding than gazing at its lovely paint.
Market commentary
This gorgeous 330 GTC was sold by Christies at Pebble Beach in 2003 for $156,000 (with 60,660 miles on the odometer.) Its condition, aside from age and oxidation of soft substances, is the same today as it was then and it would have been a sound value at the $225,000 low estimate. The hammer price is $65,000 (24%) over the high estimate, proof there is still ample liquidity in the world economy. The seller should be very, very happy, grateful to the Italian who formulated Fly Yellow paint and put David Gooding, Charlie Ross and the entire Gooding team on his or her Christmas card list for years to come after this windfall.
