Market commentary
This transactions significance is that it flouts the convention that cut cars are worth less than the coupes and berlinettas from which they are created, a reflection of the almost mythic status of the NART Spyder. Bonhams also sold a cut Daytona today for a significant, if much more modest, premium over a berlinetta and got a dilly of a price, $261,861, for the Panther Westwinds built, Coco Chinetti designed, Daytona shooting brake. If this sounds like the elevation of style and presence over substance collectors might listen to the whispers (shouts).
