Equipment

7+ Halibrand knockoffs, wide hip body. Described in the catalog with a Holley 4 bbl but in fact offered with four Webers. Good cosmetics, clean and well prepared.

Market commentary

Apparently Bonhams (and the owners) expected the two AC Mk IIIs offered at Monaco to be indistinguishable from Shelby Cobras. The bidders, however, expressed a different opinion, recognizing that the coil spring AC Cobras are a different kettle of fish from the leaf spring Shelby 289 Cobras. Realistically this car should have sold if there was money at this bid.
