Equipment

Condition
One of 62 U.S. market cars built. Used but very clean engine bay. Very good paint other than a small blister on the tail. Straight body, even gaps. Very good interior. Not overdone. Sympathetically restored and just right. Owned by racer Otto Linton and subsequently in several private collections. Cosmetic restoration on a sound example done in 2007.
Market commentary
Sold at Mecum Monterey in 2015 for $1,017,500, but it's been struggling to reach anywhere close to that number since. It was at Kissimmee last year, where it was bid to $750,000, then not sold again at Monterey at a high bid of $700,000. Toyota 2000GTs just aren't seven-figure cars anymore, as shown by this car and other recent 2000GT sales. It may be a tough pill to swallow for the consignor, but it's the truth.
