Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Chrome spoke Borannis. Deck lid not flush, chips around hood touched up with mismatched color. Chassis shows little if any use. Good chrome and interior. Drivers seat cushion stretched. Second in class at Pebble Beach in 1989 after restoration. 2006 Greenwich Concours Most Outstanding Ferrari winner. Getting a bit long in the tooth.

Market commentary

Sold by RM in Monterey in 2003 for $143,000 in somewhat fresher condition. The design is typical Michelotti and the short greenhouse, even with its long, steeply sloped rear glass, sits awkwardly on top of the body and focuses attention on the long, flat tail. It lacks harmony, or fluidity, but is a one off coachbuilt Ferrari. It was a sound value three years ago but at nearly 2 1 2 times that price its cost seems to have outstripped its appeal, or its condition.
