Equipment
Front outside laced Borranis, sliding side windows, outside fuel filler, six Webers. Created from the whole cloth by Vaccari, Allegretti and Sport Auto from the tweaked frame and running gear of 09813 for their good client Greg Garrison in the style of the alloy bodied 06885 which was third overall and won its class driven by Willy Mairesse and Beurlys at Le Mans in 1965. Covered headlights and driving lights in GTO style nose, functional carb air intake hood, vents in the front and rear fenders and roof sail panel, quick jack pickups. Good paint, interior and chrome. Trimmed much more elaborately than any Le Mans racer. Greg Garrison Collection. No Reserve.
Market commentary
This Ferrari is a very individual creation for a very sophisticated collector, Greg Garrison, who knew exactly what he wanted and felt absolutely no need to make any excuses for it. Its creation harks back to a diffierent era, which wealthy, informed, favored clients of Ferrari specified what they wanted and Ferrari delivered. His description of getting Vaccari to fix the bent original frame is worth recounting. I am sure what he did was built a new chassis to the original plans ... but then again he could have repaired the old one. Either way it is a new chassis. The bidders at the Pebble Beach auction also knew exactly what they wanted, and they wanted this fast, sleek, sexy, luxurious Ferrari 275 GTB 4. They were willing to pay a substantial premium to get it, too.
