Equipment
2.7 liter engine installed, 2 liter believed to incorporate what survives of the original power unit included. Beautifully restored by Patrick Motorsports for Scott Gauthier about five years ago with original chassis and some body panels. MSD ignition, fire system, extra wheels, modern fuel cells. Successfully raced and hillclimbed by AndrT Wicky when new. Known history in the U.S. since. An outstanding 906.
Market commentary
When expressed in todays dollars this is a record price for a 906, barely surpassing the $435,062 which RM got for Frank Galloglys langheck 66 Le Mans 2 liter class and Index of Performance winning 906 153 at Monterey in 1998. However at the time 153 was worth +394,300 making this privateer 906 moderately less at a negotiated post block price of +350,000 with commission to a European buyer.
