Equipment
2 1 2 liter Tasman single seater driven by Jim Clark in 1966, a competitive although not winning car. Later campaigned by Lotus importer Leo Geoghegan for years with FPF and then Repco V8 power through 1969. Restored later by John Dawson Damer and still in sound, usable and very presentable historic racing condition. A choice piece of Lotus single seater history.
Market commentary
This car, with its 2 1 2 liter Climax FPF power, is a bit of a quandary. Worth a lot down under, its potential for historic racing appearance above the equator is distinctly limited which restrains its value. The Antipodean who bought it for this price took full advantage of the rules and geographic disparities to acquire an extremely historic single seater in exemplary condition for not a lot of money. It is a reasonable price down here in Sydney, but more than it should expect to bring in London, Monaco or Monterey.
