Equipment
RHD. One of just two coupe prototypes built by Touring and Aston Martin on shortened DB6 chassis. 365hp Vantage engine, ZF 5 speed, chrome wire wheels, narrow whitewalls and original throughout with 14,000 miles from new of which 8,000 were put on when owned by Aston Martin and H.R. Owen. One owner since 1969 and stored for 36 years. Paint and interior are sound and usable. Brightwork is dull, engine is neglected and oxidized. Dash panel torn. Oh, and not very attractive, either, with oddly configured headlight covers, vented roof sail panels and a deep side step, all of which give it a distinct Lamborghini ish appearance. Displayed at the 1966 Turin show.
Market commentary
An important and little known short branch on Aston Martins family tree, pleasingly original and free from restorers flourishes, it is impossible to contest the bidders determination of its value.
