Equipment
389 335hp, 3 speed (yes, three), pushbutton radio, Rally wheels, redline tires, vintage A C. Sloppy A C installation with ducting trailing around under the dash. Otherwise looks competently done to good touring standards. Sill and front fender have a 1 2 plus gap behind sill trim. PHS documented GTO. Freshly done, shiny and tidy but unsettling.
Market commentary
The bidders didnt seem to be any more taken with this GTO than I was, or maybe it was the 3 speed. As for the latter, there was a sizable body of opinion in the Sixties that a close ratio 3 speed was faster down the quarter than a 4 speed by virtue of having one less gear to grab, so having a 3 speed is seen by some as a virtue. With this much torque it is entirely satisfactory on the street. The misfit sill trim on the other hand is a virtue to no one. The buyer got a probably decent car for a modest price appropriate to its presentation.
