Equipment
Halibrand centerlock magnesium wheels with Goodyear tires, side pipes, AC woodrim steering wheel, roll bar, includes window sticker.
Condition
Decent paint with some cracks on the passenger's side fender and a thick paint glob on the driver's side. The wheels are quite aged and oxidized. The engine compartment is clean and has many new parts, indicating little use. The painted side pipes have some oxidation and the chassis has been thickly repainted. The interior is well sorted and has few signs of use since it was redone. Originally painted white over red. Lightly crashed by a service center employee in the late 1960s. Modified in the 1970s with roll bar, 12-quart oil pan, oil cooler, sway bars and Koni shocks. Cosmetically attended to but never fully restored. Not exactly the ideal Cobra, but a sound, usable example.
Market commentary
The couldn't get Cobras out the door at Auburn this year indicating a disconnect between consignors' expectations and those of the bidders. Does this portend a general weakening of 289 Cobra values? It's not clear but is something to be considered.
