Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Chrome spoke Borranis, pushbutton radio, covered headlights. Restored in 2002 by Zanasi, Luppi and Ferrari Suisse with 1,500km since, mostly on the 2004 Coppa Milano San Remo rally. In impeccable cosmetic and mechanical condition.

Market commentary

This Superamerica blew the top off Bonhams estimate range and with good reason. Arguably one of the most attractive and imposing Ferraris ever built and a Pininfarina masterpiece as well as pretty damn rare. This is a record price for a 400SA. It represents, along with the 410SA and Superfasts, the ultimate GT Ferrari. Period. End of Story. So just how much is enough
