Ferrari Fl test driver Luca Badoer took the consignor out for a few hot laps of Fiorano in 0808 on Saturday and it was great to see and hear the old girl being worked. Ferrari Classiche certified.
Market commentary
Sold by RM in 2002 at Monterey for $6,490,000. Bought by a phone bidder who then went on a classic Ferrari race car binge, also buying the 340MM and the 340 375MM. $9 1 4 million is a new record at auction since the Bugatti Royale and Ferrari GTO in the last frenzy. At the rate things are going it wont be long before those records fall although in UK pounds (4,697,800) this price is far below the 5.5 million pounds the Royale brought in London in 1987. Only in todays droopy dollars is this close to a record transaction and in fact its Euro price (6,875,000) is barely more than the then current equivalent when it was bought in 2002, Euros 6,632,800. In those terms, to a buyer writing a check in Euros this is something of a bargain.
