Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Wire wheels, covered headlights, three upper nose vents, recessed driving lights. Owned for nearly 20 years by Jess Pourret. Carefully used, thoughtfully restored and consistently maintained. The star of the auction.

Market commentary

Hammered sold for a generous but appropriate price, unfortunately the buyer couldnt make full payment, but at least he never took possession of the car, which was eventually resold about a year later for $6.9 million to make up the difference, a snapshot of the collapse of high end Italian collector car values, and Ferrari values in particular, in this period. Sold again in later 1994 for $3.8 million. Hammer in FFr and subsequent transaction data from Marcel Massini.
