Equipment
Chrome spoke Borranis, covered headlights from new.
Condition
A handsome and lightly used old restoration. Driver''s seat has a small tear and ugly abrasions on the seatback bolster. Tonneau cover seams are pulled at corners. Good paint, some chrome flaws but generally very presentable and attractive. A driver''s California, not a concours queen, first owned by Freddy Damman. U.S. restored, Pebble Beach and FCA national meet class winner. Invited to open Ferrari World in Dubai in 2010, it probably should get some attention before then. Classiche certified.
Market commentary
Opened at Euros 2MM. One bidder in the room, one on the phone with the phone bidder placing the high bid. The bid is sufficiently close to the low estimate to permit making a deal using the 10% buyers premium but the flexibility apparently wasnt there. This is a reasonable bid for this California which would have been nearly $6 million after the commission.
