Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Chrome spoke Borrani wire wheels, Michelin XWX tires, AM-FM, halogen headlights.

Condition

Unstamped engine block with internal number 102E but confirmed by Ferrari Classiche to be the original engine, gearbox and differential. Fresh clearcoat repaint and lightly stretched upholstery. Erratic chrome especially the taillight surround and rear bumper. Good opening panel fits. Orderly engine compartment. A freshly restored but driver quality car with shiny paint.

Market commentary

The reported high bid is eminently reasonable for this 250 GTE's erratic "full restoration" and engine block without a chassis number. It could have been sold with no regret at all other than investing in an ultimately unrewarding restoration.
