Equipment
1582cc/85hp, 4-speed, hub caps, gold brightwork, Blaupunkt pushbutton AM/FM radio.
Condition
#4 Fair
Has visible flaws to the naked eye. Runs fine, but could use mechanical or cosmetic attention.
Regularly used, then stored from about 1981 until 2015. Represented as the nymbers-matching engine, Porsche CoA documented. Dull, chipped, scratched, dirty old paint. Sizable dent in the tail. Rusty wheels. Faded dirty original interior with rips in the seat. Obviously in barn find condition and said to have an engine that turns over but doesn't run. At least it was left to sit in dry, warm, California and out of the sun. The underbody is rough but not all that rotten. A big, expensive project is ahead here but it's worth saving.
Market commentary
This result is appropriate for a good restored Porsche of this specification. The buyer has a modest restoration project but one that will make the price paid here seem insignificant when it's done. It's a Project of Love, like adopting an abandoned, scroungy puppy at the local pound. It may, and probably will, return love and affection but it's not without issues. At least it won't attack the brown-clad UPS man.
