Equipment
This 1961 Jaguar Mk 2 3.8 righthand drive saloon was acquired from the original owner by the vendor in 1981, since when much has been done, though illness has caused work to be abandoned mid restoration. Welding work (currently described as sound though due for a respray) has been professionally carried out by specialists GHR, with inner and outer sills, four jacking points, front crossmember and crows feet, inner front wings and floor, front bumper section and rear valance renewed. Engine and gearbox mountings, clutch cylinder and thrust bearing as well as brake pipes have been renewed. Calipers, dynamo and starter motor have been reconditioned and new windscreen, rear screen, rubber door seals and Jaguar carpets and underlay have been sourced. The engine is claimed to be in good working order and the four speed transmission with overdrive reportedly OK, whilst the 55,471 mileage is believed to be the genuine total. The original handbook is included as are photos recording renovation work. This project could be a most suitable starting point to create a classic saloon racer.
