Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

3.8 liter straight six, 4 speed manual transmission, teardrop cycle fenders front and rear, wire wheels, modern radial tires, Brooklands aeroscreens, large racing number and meatball on rear bodywork. Jaguar Mk II based. Good paint and well detailed chassis. A strange car in excellent condition. No Reserve.

Market commentary

With all the trouble of a mid 70s car but none of the class, a Kougar is a strange animal. It wont pass as a true classic nor perform like either a modern car; caught instead between 30s styling and 1970s technology. Worst of all is a snicker inducing name whose awkwardness became painfully apparent when the auctioneer barked who wants a Kougar for 69 to the considerable amusement of the Gooding audience. This is undoubtedly a fun car to drive. Just dont let anyone see you do it and never tell them you spent $74,800 for the privilege.
