Equipment
Chrome spoke Borranis, hood scoop, fog lights, blackwall tires. 97,000km from new, repainted and new carpets in 2006 when the engine was overhauled and converted to unleaded fuel. Otherwise original, with tired chrome and surface cracked, soiled interior that has passed the point of patina. Finished 11th in the 1973 Ferrari Club of France Parc de Saran hillclimb, a notable accomplishment for a Ferrari sedan (that is, assuming that 11th wasnt also last.)
Market commentary
This GTE is good enough to drive and enjoy, which is sufficient to support its Euro price of 97,750, but hard to reconcile with US$151,000. With all these financial geniuses going unemployed on Wall Street youd think some of them would realize they can make a lot more money shipping cars to Europe from the US than they can trying to create some new financial derivatives scheme to generate commissions. A comprable 250 GTE is no more than $100K in the U.S. It could be shipped to England or Europe for $3,000 and sold privately or at auction for $120,000 or so net. Thats a 15% profit in a couple of months. At the very worst the investor still has a $100K car.
