Equipment
4 speed, sliding sunroof, headrests, Becker Mexico radio, Hydrak clutch, fitted luggage. Like its sequentially numbered 220SE Cabriolet sibling also sold today this 220SE Coupe is beyond perfect yet carefully (no, that should be obsessively) presented as the factory would have built it had they had unlimited time and money to spend. It is brilliant in every respect. A stunning example of the restorers art that would make even the most anal Corvette restorer green with envy.
Market commentary
On a very good day a 220SE Coupe is a $60,000 car. This 220SE Coupe, however, was beyond good, beyond excellent and right into the realm of awe inspiring and couldnt be duplicated for the price paid even if the car and all of its parts used in the restoration were free (and they never are). A showpiece, the buyer went home secure in the knowledge there is none better. The sequentially numbered pair were split up.
