Equipment
Single outside mirror, hub caps and trim rings, backup lights, power brakes, hardtop and soft top, VDO dash clock, original tool roll and spare.
Condition
Restored 15 years ago, and with the original owner until last year. Paint has some divots and one chip on the hood and scratches from washing and dusting. Chrome pieces look original. Polishing swirls and scratches as well as heat baking above the exhaust in the rear. Trim has wear and scratches. Engine bay is clean and well detailed, carbs show age. Glass has some scratching. Interior has mostly original panels in good shape, but the upholstery and carpets are newer and very good, as are the restored gauges. Restored and enjoyed.
Market commentary
This car was restored before 190SLs were worth very much, but it was still done to better than the enthusiast standards that many older 190SL restorations saw. Neither of the two 190SLs in Auburn sold and, like lot 782, this sound example may have more luck at a more Eurocentric venue but 190SL values are softening and if the seller wants out it's time to take the money.
