Market commentary
Sold at auction in the Netherlands in 2001 from the Charles Zwolsman cars confiscated by the Dutch government pre-restoration for $34,490. After restoration it sold for $275,000 at RM's Monterey auction in 2007. It presents quite well, today, but history like that is always worth noting. Regardless, as a Vignale-bodied Maserati this was always going to be one of the stars of the Ponder sale and it wound up being the fifth most expensive car out of the collection. Although it didn't quite meet its low estimate, this is still a strong result for a 4-speed carbureted car (later 3500s got ZF 5-speeds and fuel injection).
