Equipment
Webers, chrome spoke Borrani wire wheels, P W, Audiovox radio. As scruffy now as it was Pebble Beach five months ago where it was described thusly: Tired. Inside rear view mirror fogged. Shiny and aged seats with collapsed springs. Superficial old repaint with overspray on door jambs and hinge surfaces. Good chrome, especially the wheels which look new. Paint discolored along front of hood. Chassis is untouched, old and dirty. Doors dont close flush. A project Maserati.
Market commentary
Consignment 2231. Where have all the Maserati 3500 GT Vignale spyders come from There was one at Hilton Head in somewhat scruffy but well proven functional condition sold for $211,200. There was the gorgeous Grey one with two tops at Bonhams Gstaad Auction the weekend before Christmas which brought $311,616. Oh, and then there was this one, which was reported bid to $200,000 at Goodings Pebble Beach auction in August but didnt sell. The consignor was fortunate Russo and Steele was able to find a buyer at this price and should be lighting candles of gratitude at every church and monastery passed on the way back home to California.
