Equipment
Chrome spoke Borranis, Michelin X tube type tires, vinyl stick on SF shields, outside fuel filler. Excellent paint, chrome and interior but paint cracked by left windshield and left rear corner of hood opening. FIA Historic sticker on windshield frame. Good but not show quality. Comes with its complete original tool kit, unrestored cold air box, rollbar, wheels and racing tires, copies of the factory build sheets and a spare windshield.
Market commentary
OK, Rick, who the heck cares about the paint This is Bob Grossmans and Fernand Tavanos 1959 Le Mans car which finished fifth overall, a masterful accomplishment for both the car and its drivers, a prepared California, no less, but one that ran with the giants. Alloy body, giant driving lights, 40mm Webers, TR cams, oil cooler, uprated suspension, outside fuel filler. Raced by Grossman in the U.S. after Le Mans, winning at Nassau where the alloy bodied California Spyder was hard to better. Selectively restored in Red instead of the original Silver with multiple concours awards. Colorado Grand, Shell Ferrari Challenge and Monterey Historic Races participation set this Ferrari apart as a real driver. This is a Tour de France without a roof or a Testa Rossa with GT coachwork. A splendid Ferrari, it could only be better in its original Silver.
