Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Originally delivered to Luigi Innocenti. Re created from an engineless derelict hulk found in a New Orleans junkyard. New bodywork with covered headlights, Cal Spyder inside plug engine, Koni shocks (Houdailles included), overdrive. Repainted and engine rebuilt and converted to unleaded about two years ago. Some other original parts included. Chrome Borranis, P W. Good cosmetics, some interior wear. Good panel fits and even gaps.

Market commentary

Kicked after Brooks Monaco auction in 2000 where it was hammered sold for $398,000 ($385,000 at todays exchange rate). Used subsequently by Simon Kidston of Brooks Bonhams Europe for tours and events and essentially as described in Monaco. A high quality Cal Spyder, its history devalues it but it is nonetheless honestly represented, a great driver and the only claimant to its chassis number.
