Equipment
Cold air box, chrome spoke Borranis, Blaupunkt multiband radio, electric fan, Marchal fog lights in grille, modified BMW 507 hardtop long associated with this chassis. Thankfully not yet modified to covered headlights. Represented to have its original engine. Excellent paint, chrome and interior in a color change from its most recent appearances in dark green. It isnt as fresh underhood as the paint, but still very nice. Better than a driver but not a concours queen, either.
Market commentary
RM has been this Californias butler three times now. At New York in 2002 it brought a bid of $840,000, then at Amelia in 2003 it fell short at $850,000, both times with a low estimate of $900,000. Today its low estimate is $2.4 million. The Amelia bidders couldnt rise to the occasion and once again 1307GT heads back into the private sale marketplace, a choice LWB California, but probably no more choice than indicated by the reported high bid here, even in Navy Blue.
