Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

One of two Maserati engined T51s raced by Mimo Deis Scuderia Centro Sud from 1959 1961, exact history not known. Restored to highly presentable historic GP standards, with modern fire system, maintained by Paul Lanzante, competed at Moco GP Historique in 2002 and ready to go again in 2004.

Market commentary

This appears to be a negotiated transaction, the reported result converting to the unlikely hammer bid of +91,040. A charming combition of Coopers solid and practical design and Maseratis 2.5 liter 4 cylinder power and a welcome entrant in historic GP races, there is real value in this car at the UK + price although todays dollar equivalent is rich. Two years ago +103,500 would have been about $148,000, a much more realistic value.
