Equipment
Dual carbs, hub caps and trim rings, dual wing mirrors, wood shift knob, VDO oil pressure, amp and water temp gauges.
Condition
#3 Good
Runs and drives well. Flaws not noticeable to passersby. Most common condition.
From the Orin Smith collection. Maintained but unrestored engine bay. Carbs are dirty. Light pitting on the mirrors. Paint coming off of the hinges. Dull, average quality older repaint. Cracking steering wheel cap. Otherwise good refurbished interior. Road wear and unrestored underneath but not bad. Out of whatever money has been put into this car, most of it seems to have gone to the wood, which isn't perfect but looks great. A driver quality Traveller with flaws that take little away from this car's inherent charm.
Market commentary
The car is not a knockout, but this sale absolutely was. Condition #1 money was paid for a condition #3 car, and this was the most expensive Minor Traveller seen at auction since the $52,250 example RM sold here two years ago. Compared to a less powerful and less usable but no cuter Fiat Jolly, though, this still seems like a decent value.
