Equipment
Chrome spoke Borranis. First owner Miro Toselli, with some Italian races and hillclimbs in 1958. Sold to Lino Fayen whose father was the Ferrari concessionaire in Caracas. Sold to Maurizio Marcotulli who later abandoned it in a Paris airport parking lot when he fled from the French tax collector. Unnumbered engine installed since at least the late 60s. Lightweight rods, high compression pistons and magnesium Testa Rossa sump installed during factory engine rebuild in 1960. Subsequent owners included Pierre Bardinon (twice), Count Freddy Chandon. Repainted in its original color in the late 90s retaining the original Burgundy leather interior which just was repadded. Original body panels and undertrays. Single roof vent, covered headlights. Thoughtfully serviced as needed and ready to go.
Market commentary
This is a particularly intriguing Tour de France and no one seemed especially concerned about its unnumbered engine. The catalog theorized that it might have been supplied to Fayen senior for service work, a known Ferrari practice at the time with some of its more remote concessionaires, or it might just be creative cataloging. This is, in any event, real TdF money.
