Equipment
1582 75hp, 4 speed, beehive taillights, front and rear bumper overriders, gold Speedster scripts. Original owners son blew the transmission and Dad sold the car to the mechanic in 1967 after getting the repair estimate. Owned by the same mechanic since then and completely restored. Numbers match. As new with excellent paint, interior and mechanicals. Looks absolutely correct and not over restored.
Market commentary
Had the original owner kept the car he could have thanked his ham fisted son for blowing the Speedsters transmission and not its engine. Few of these cars retain their numbers matching engines and that, combined with a 1956 build year and two owner history, accounts for the premium this car earned relative to other similar condition Speedsters.
