Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Raced twice by Maserati driven by Froilan Gonzalez in 56 Argentine GP (dnf) and Buenos Aires City GP at Mendoza driven by Pablo Gulle (8th) then sold to Stan Jones in OZ, eventually winning the Australian GP with Jones in 1959. To Colin Crabbe in 64, then Nigel Moores, Bamford, Llewellyn. Bought by present owner in 96, meticulously race prepared, appears to have been carefully driven and conscientiously maintained. Race ready, known history, never wrecked or messed around.

Market commentary

A beautiful example of the wonderful 250F thats never been hit hard and still has its original engine. Aside from Gonzalezs one race, however, its frontline history is thin. Bidding stopped at $880,000, an embarassing oversight by the auctioneer who forgot the low estimate was $800K. Brooks reports this car was sold subsequent to the auction for $900,000.
