Equipment

Fitted luggage, painted steel wheels and hubcaps, tool kit, owners manuals. Better than new in every regard. Paint, interior, chassis and mechanicals are immaculate. The color combination is striking but not original, although it is a correct factory choice in 1954. Eye catching in a lineup of eye catching cars.

Market commentary

This was no normal 300SL. Its condition was simply over the top and its non original color combination was striking. Fully restored by Rudi Koniczek the Gullwings appeal was not lost on RMs bidders and came within a Fiat Jolly of hitting its high estimate. Expensive, but it deserves to be.
