Equipment
Period custom built by Joe Wilhelm. Period Paxton supercharger, glass roof panel, scalloped wheel wells, reshaped nose with integrated headlights and horizontal grille, smoothed, comprehensive instrumentation including one of the elusive Tapley meters. Original and as built with 6,700 miles. New chrome wire wheels. Some paint blisters particularly over the removed trunk lid emblem and on the front catwalks. An intriguing period piece featured in many magazines and twice on the lawn at Pebble in 57 and 58 with class trophies both times.
Market commentary
Obviously not to everyones taste or style but an outstanding survivor in remarkably original condition. The surviving paint and bodywork is a testament to Joe Wilhelms skill and attention to detail. It would not have been a surprise to see the Royale catch a collectors fancy and bring much more than this, particularly as period built customs and concepts are so highly sought today.
