Equipment
RHD. 1955 Brussels Motor Show display car by Jacques Swaters then shipped via Maranello and Chinetti to John von Neumann who raced it on the West Coast driving himself and with Phil Hill. Sold to Harrison Evans who raced it in 1956, then sold to Stanley Kramer who used it in On The Beach where it was driven by Fred Astaire. After returning to Chinetti it was eventually acquired in 1983 by Peter Kaus and has been museum displayed and occasionally shown since. Very tired, used and aged but runs. Rusty chrome spoke Borranis, head fairing, drivers windscreen, hard cover over passengers seat. Abundant patina. Peter Kaus Rosso et Bianco Collection.
Market commentary
A gutsy race car for gutsy drivers but also with very attractive and distinctive bodywork. Bought by a well known Ferrari collector who will give it a great home.
