Market commentary
Long looking for a home, this Fireflite finally found it here in Austin. It has been trailing around from auction to auction since March 2012 at Auctions America Ft. Lauderdale where it no saled with a bid of $62,000. At Mecum Dallas in 2012 it was bid to $57,500, at Kissimmee January 2013 the bid was $64,000, at Russo and Steele Scottsdale in January of this year it was $65,000, at Mecum Dallas in September it was $72,500. It finally found a home, and all those earlier bidders were right, or within range of a reasonable compromise. Instead thousands were spent on hauling it this way and that and on auction entry fees. Closing the loop here in Austin represents the end of a long and ultimately unrewarding quest for an extraordinary result.
