Equipment
RHD, silver wires in front, red in rear. Engine number stamped on an obviously re machined pad, appears to be a Mondial opened up to 3 liters, with 58DCOA3 carbs. Original engine now in Mondial 0506MD. Owned and raced by Alfonso de Portago in 1955 but no prior factory racing history is known. Very original except for a tired and cracked old repaint, unused for 10 years but freshly serviced and running.
Market commentary
Itll need further attention before being seriously exercised but has originality going for it, an important attribute in todays market. Some may be troubled by the mis matched engine but realists know old race cars got whatever it took to take a start, and finish competitively. Racing success meant pushing the machinery to its limits and often beyond; engine gearbox swaps were, and remain in todays race cars, the rule not the exception. This is a terrific Ferrari, its patina murmuring of Nassau and Sebring.
