Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

RHD. 1953 Brussels Motor Show car. Very original throughout with 1955 repaint for Cuban owner Julio Batista Falla. Cracking, peeling paint, worn but usable original interior, drivers seat torn, bumpers dented. Doors close and fit well, panel gaps even. Much recent mechanical work and ready to be used as is.

Market commentary

This is a lot of money for a 212 coupe, even with this level of originality and continuous history. However its probably worth it to the buyers, the sons of Cuban banker Batista, the cars second owner. Julio.Batista@vodafone.com 11 05 I spent 6 months arguing, fighting with my brother (co owner) for strict originality. I won on the outside color, but lost on the interior (leather instead of nylon) and on sundry mechanicals:radiator fan, alternator instead of generator, electric fuel pump and double brake circuit.
