Equipment
Chrome wire wheels, picnic hamper, fitted luggage, built in bar with glassware, chrome plated tools in their own varnished wood tool box. Built for Charles A. Ward, President and General Sales Manager of Brown & Bigelow, the leaders in advertising calendars, and presented as a 1953 Christmas gift from his sixty district sales managers. One of two built with this body, the other (and less elaborately fitted out) owned by Innes Ireland.
Condition
Exquisitely restored but now with a scratched windshield and oily chassis. Still exceptional, just not as exceptional as it was two years ago. No Reserve.
Market commentary
Sold in April 2007 by RM from Gene Ponder''s collection for $847,000, this is a huge jump in the market''s assessment of this car''s value. Yes, it''s beautiful. Yes, it''s rare. And it''s difficult to contest the bidders determination of its appeal in isolation but knowing it was sold just two years ago for 51% of this transaction begs a close look at the buyer''s and underbidders'' perspectives.
