Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

RHD. 369 350hp Cadillac V 8, two four barrel carburetors, three speed Lincoln Zephyr transmission, silver painted wire wheels, low full width Plexiglas windshield. Plexiglas windshield is spidered in the corners. One of two Allards raced at Le Mans in 1953 (the other being offered yesterday at Brooks Quail Lodge auction) driven by Zora Arkus Duntov and Ray Merrick, imported to the U.S. by General Curtis LeMay. Paint chips and cracks around. Rivets beginning to show on the hood. Fully historic race prepared and supplied with spares.

Market commentary

RM sold this car, in essentially the same condition, here in Monterey in 2001 for $115,500, making for a very attractive few years ownership with fincial as well as psychic rewards. It was cheap in 2001 and appropriately priced in 2007.
