Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Silver wire wheels, chrome suspension. Good paint, chassis shows age. Dnq at Indy in 1952 (of 4 entered only Ascari in the factory car made the show after engine mods to give more power) Recently restored by Tony Merrick after a catastrophic accident at Imola that nearly killed its owner driver and destroyed many original parts. Historic race ready.

Market commentary

Reported sold at Brooks Quail Lodge auction in 2000 for $739,500. One would think that a profit approaching $100K (net of expenses) in 16 months would have been sufficient to pry it loose from its owners hands, particularly as it doesnt seem to have been used in the meantime.
