Equipment
Cadillac V8, dual quads, 4 speed, chrome wire wheels, roll bar, cycle fenders, aero screens. A sound and presentable historic race car from the featured Glen Shaffer collection. Reportedly raced at Le Mans in 1951 by Alfred Hitchings and Peter Reece, but that car was righthand drive and this is a left hooker. 55 gallon tank, reinforced body and vented front fenders. Restored and extensively historic raced, displayed at Pebble Beach in 1994. In sound and presentable condition, race ready but far from a show car.
Market commentary
The buyer must have been miffed at missing the ex Perry Fina long wheelbase J2X at Coys in London last October at a pound inflated $140,700 so made up for it by paying 2.3 times the price ... for a car with a mysteriously moved steering wheel. It will be more comfortable for an American to drive this way, but that hardly seems like its worth $183,300.
