Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

RHD. First owned by George VI, used by the Duke of Edinburgh, later owned by entertainer Max Bygraves. Flamboyant Hooper bodywork, well restored some time ago by Hooper and still in charming overall condition whatever that means.

Market commentary

Extravagant flowing Hooper design enhanced by the two tone paint and distinctively stylish, this Daimler will be the center of attention wherever it appears and will steal the show from many, if not most, much more valuable cars. Under the skin, however, it is an 85hp snail. The Sport in its name is a misnomer. Better to call it a DB18 Special Elegant.
