Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Wide white walls, full wheel covers. Fair old repaint, otherwise origil, clean, sound. Good interior. The Tucker Indiapolis Speedway test car, sold by Preston Tucker to Winthrop Rockefeller in 1955 56. Reasobly well established history since. Restored in 1987 and possibly used in the Tucker movie production. Unused since about 1989 and shows it.

Market commentary

This Tucker was a $300K private sale car. It was bid up from $200K to $370K in 10K increments by two phone bidders, then by $5K bumps to this record price. A home run. The excitement and enthusiasm which this Tucker developed are the reason cars come to auction. It just doesnt happen in any other environment.
