Equipment
RHD. 2,562cc 190hp V 12, 4 speed, silver painted Borrani wire wheels, full width windscreen. Raced by Ferrari as a Spider Corsa when new, then sold to Giovanni Bracco with good results despite becoming known as Il Chiodo di Bracco (Braccos Nail), then sold to the Marzottos and rebodied for them in the Touring Barchetta like coachwork by Fontana it now has. Sixth in the 1950 Mille Miglia, later modified to a berlinetta and eventually retired. Discovered and eventually restored for Giuseppe Medeci in 1976 with F2 engine 116MS. Freshly restored by Patrick Ottis, Curtis Patience and Ivan Zaremba, completed in 2012. Done by the best and impeccable.
Market commentary
This is an impressive nail, not only in its history but also in its survival and quality restoration. Its history is a bit checkered (rebodied, shortened chassis, changed engine) but this form is how it is best known from the 1950 Mille Miglia. The post block sale of this car intelligently balances its history, condition and the fact it is the ninth Ferrari built. A sound value that will be welcome just about anywhere (except perhaps at Ferrari Classiche.)
